Le Clos de la Richardière, to visit and enjoy!

The year 2022 sees the Clos de la Richardière welcome its first visitors. They discover a somewhat secret place.

A new nugget in Amboise!

Decidedly, Amboise never ceases to surprise us. A few years ago, the doors opened to Château Gaillard, a small Renaissance palace not far from the château royal d’Amboise and the Clos Lucé. The year 2022 saw Clos de la Richardière welcome its first visitors. They discovered a somewhat secret place, but one that quickly won over a large audience of lovers of good things.

TASTINGS AND TOURS

Go to 53 rue du Vau-de-Bonnin in Amboise for a unique wine tourism getaway. A passionate team welcomes you from Monday to Saturday, at 11am and 5.30pm, from April to November. The tour of the estate, including the chenin blanc plantation and fun panels tracing the interventions from pruning to harvesting, lasts around 1h30.

To fully savour this experience, book in advance: €17.00 per adult, €12.00 for 10-16 year olds and €8.00 for younger children.

The Loire Valley is also revealed through the charcuteries of the Galland farm and a selection of wines to accompany your tasting at the wine press.

The Clos de la Richardière is on the route of La Loire à Vélo linking Amboise to Chenonceaux.

A natural, gourmet address

Already owners of the Galland boutique, the town’s must-visit local grocery shop, Christophe Galland and his wife Guylaine had the good idea of adding a visit to a place with a lot of charm to the tasting of fine products from Amboise and the surrounding area. Discover the long driveway planted with lime trees: a great way to start your visit.

There was once a farm on this site, including a winegrowing operation that lasted until 1959. It is now well and truly back with a parcel of chenin (the emblematic grape variety of the Loire Valley), the management of which is left to the good care of students from the Viticultural College of Amboise, in organic farming. This work on the vines is the subject of several explanatory panels, supplemented by comments from Christophe or one of his staff. Pruning, bending, trimming, disbudding, lifting… So many fine stages that upstream of the winemaking process, make wine a fascinating product.

Nearby the vines, the previous owners left their mark with a remarkable little arboretum. Numerous species coexist and offer the eye a remarkable diversity of shapes and colours.

Christophe and Guylaine have undoubtedly left their mark on the premises via the renovation of the old wine press, which has become the highlight of the visit.
