Getting around / How to get here

Depending on where you live and your holiday plans, opt at your convenience for car, camper van, train, plane via Tours airport and, of course, bike!

Below, here’s some information to get you on your way to your holiday in Touraine with peace of mind!

Coming by train

It takes just over 1 hour by TGV to travel from Paris Montparnasse station to Tours station. Some TGVs stop a little earlier, at Saint-Pierre-des-Corps: then reach Tours in 5 minutes via a rail shuttle. Other direct TGV links are available with the Ile-de-France region: Massy (Orly airport), Marne-la-Vallée (Disneyland) and Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport.

From Paris-Austerlitz station, the journey to Tours by Train Express RĂ©gional (TER) is a little longer, but a little cheaper. Above all, it stops at Amboise station, if that’s your destination in Touraine. Note also that from Nantes, the TER allows you to reach the station at Langeais in 1h30.

For the main towns and cities, journey times are as follows: Bordeaux (2h), Reims (3h), Lille (3h00), Metz & Nancy (3h30), Brussels (3h40), Lyon (4h), Strasbourg (4h), London (5h), Marseille (5h30).

GETTING AROUND BY BUS

From stations, bus routes take over to get you to your destination!

By road

Touraine is easy to reach by car or motorhome, thanks to 3 motorways: the A10 (between Paris and Bordeaux), the A28 (between Rouen and Tours) and the A85 (between Nantes and Bourges). Here are some indications of distances to Tours: Nantes (222 km), Paris (238 km), Rennes (242 km), Rouen (274 km), Bordeaux (348 km), Dijon (419 km), Lille (460 km), Lyon (463 km), Toulouse (525 km), Montpellier (664 km), Marseille (798 km), Nice (955 km).

BY BUS

The city of Tours is also served by coach via Blablacar bus or Flixbus.

By plane

Tours-Val de Loire airport hosts year-round connections to London, Marseille, Porto and Marrakech. Taxis, hire cars and coaches are available on arrival, giving you access to Tours city centre and the TGV station in less than 10 minutes.
