Weekend diary From Friday 1 to Sunday 3 May

The Tours trade fair will be held at the Parc des Expositions for 10 days, with its gourmet village. It joins the funfair, which has been running since April 24.

Another not-to-be-missed event is the Panzoult winegrowers’ wine fair(Festivin), which returns every May 1, with plenty of excitement in store at the Cave de la Sibylle.

Garden lovers can also take advantage of the reopening of the Valmer gardens(Chançay), as well as the exceptional opening of the Jardins d’Altona(Fondettes) on May 1.

OTHER EVENTS THIS WEEKEND

All weekend long at 3pm, bricoles et trébuchet, medieval war machines in action at the royal fortress of Chinon.

Friday: hiking and mountain biking (6km and 12km / 18km) in Charnizay, fête de la grillade in Ferrière-sur-Beaulieu (flea market, forest walk, meal…).

Friday and Saturday: open days at the Vincent Mabille and Sylvain Gaudron estates(Vernou-sur-Brenne)

Saturday: winemaker’s lunch at the Domaine de Roche Blonde(Vernou-sur-Brenne), storytelling afternoon for children aged 4 to 12 at the Château de Gizeux, 90s evening at the Guinguette Ligaya(Montlouis-sur-Loire), twilight tour of the Domaine de Candé(Monts).

Saturday and Sunday: 30th anniversary of Lulu Parc(Rochecorbon), spring weekend at the Alain Robert vineyard(Chançay), nature festival(Saint-Avertin), guinguette and barbecue outing at the Chopinière du Roy estate(Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil).

Sunday: Galopade and Assemblée de mai (hiking and running / garage sale and funfair) in Richelieu. Loire Valley tourist rally leaving from the Cité Rétro Mécanique Maurice Dufresne (Azay-le-Rideau), and free admission to the Musée du Véron.

Weekend outings From Friday 8 to Sunday 10 May

This weekend, the Château de l’Islette in Azay-le-Rideau is holding its plant festival on Saturday and Sunday. The Lycée Agricole in Loches is not to be outdone with its Plant and Garden Festival.

On Friday and Saturday, take your children to the Chant des Possibles festival at the Domaine de la Mulotière(Langeais). In Azay-sur-Cher, theAmerican Touraine Festival should also be well attended, as should the Guinguette Sauvage(Chargé) for its reopening!

OTHER OUTINGS THIS WEEKEND

Friday and Saturday: open days at domaine Marchesseau(Bourgueil) and domaine des Ouches(Coteaux-sur-Loire).

Saturday and Sunday: spring open days at Domaine Dutertre(Limeray) and Domaine Gaudreau(Chançay).

Sunday: festival of flavours in the garden at Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire, solidarity festival at Descartes (garage sale, children’s games, exhibition of charities, refreshment bar, etc.), walking festival at Panzoult (7, 13.5 or 17 km), mill and orchid hike at Bléré, spring market at the Cabane à Plantes(Sennevières).

Be among the first to discover the new exhibition at the Cité royale de Loches,Le cinéma fait son Moyen Âge, or attend the Anne de Bretagne days at the Château de Langeais.

On the other hand, these are the very last days to enjoy this year’s funfair in Tours.

As at every Whitsun weekend, the Independent Winegrowers’ Picnic offers you the chance to discover winegrowing estates in a very convivial atmosphere. In the same vein, note the open cellars and spring market at Château de Valmer(Chançay) and the Troglovinum wine fair in Vouvray.

Other highlights include the Sport Nature weekend in Bourgueil, the poule à facettes festival(Cormery), and special evenings at the CCCOD(Tours), the Musée du Véron(Savigny-en-Véron), the Musée Lansyer(Loches), theEspace Muséal de Descartes and the Cité Rétro Mécanique Maurice Dufresne(Azay-le-Rideau) for the European Night of Museums.

The month ends with a weekend of festivities, including the VITILOIRE Loire wine festival and the Howard Hinton Seven rugby tournament in Tours, and of course the Chédignyrose festival.

Other towns also come alive, with Chinon en fanfares, the street arts festival La Grande Tablée in Langeais, and Chambray in May!
