A walk through the vineyards on foot or by bike

Take a tour of the vineyards of Touraine, following routes through some of the region’s most famous appellations. In the fresh air, admire the curves of the landscape and the rows of vines, and bring back some great memories of the Touraine wine estates!

Walking among the vines

One example? Near Chinon, visit the unusual Cave de la Sibylle in the morning, with its immersive journey through the dreams of Rabelais, followed by a tasting of wines from the winegrowers of Panzoult, a small village in the Chinon AOC. What’s next? In front of the cellar is the start of the 10km hike “Entre bois de Juche-Pie et vignobles des Folies”. There are plenty of other ways to explore the vineyards of Touraine! Explore the AOC Bourgueil vineyards by bike or on horseback, the AOC Vouvray vineyards on a scooter, the AOC Chinon vineyards in a horse-drawn carriage or even in an e-quad…

Interpretation trail

Integrated into the “From green hillsides to white tufa” trail, an interpretation trail highlights both the troglodyte cellars on the hillsides and the vineyard. A must-do! + button towards the Verts Coteaux hike… + button towards the interpretation trail

On the estate

A number of wine estates also offer a guided tour of their vineyards before the tasting. In Azay-le-Rideau, without booking, take an audio-guided tour of the vineyards of Château de l’Aulée. For groups of 6 or more, you can even book a guided tour with Maison Rousseau (AOC Touraine Noble joué)!

Events all year round

The winegrowers in the town in Chinon, Vitiloire in Tours, the independent winegrowers’ picnic, Echappées en Loire… take advantage of the many events that give Touraine its winegrowing character!
