The Renaissance proved that to understand the stars, it wasn't enough to calculate them: you also had to learn how to look at them. Science and art mingled to make the invisible visible. In those days, representing the stars also meant representing the divine will. But Galileo proved that the heavens were not "immutable and perfect", as the Church would have it. Artists bore witness to the growth of new knowledge. This lecture reveals these two worlds
