To pay tribute to Louis Delaporte (1842-1925), an explorer and draughtsman born in Loches, a new exhibition has been organized, presenting his career and his major contribution to knowledge of Khmer art and the Angkor site in France.
In 2025, the town of Loches celebrates the centenary of the death of explorer Louis Delaporte (1842-1925), who revealed the Cambodian site of Angkor, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
To pay tribute to this Loches-born explorer and draughtsman, founder of the former Musée Indochinois du Trocadéro, whose collections have now been integrated into the Musée Guimet, an original exhibition has been organized with the exceptional partnership of Guimet ? musée national des arts asiatiques and the Conseil départemental d?Indre-et-Loire.
Recognized as an "Exhibition of National Interest" by the French Ministry of Culture, this exhibition will present Louis Delaporte?s career and his major contribution to knowledge of Khmer art and the Angkor site in France.
