1. The confluence beach

A tributary of La Loire, the Vienne joins it at Candes-Saint-Martin, one of the most beautiful villages in France. You can’t help but admire this superb view of the beautiful tufa-tiled houses from which the collegiate church of Saint-Martin emerges. A traditional boat regularly graces the picture postcard. Beyond the beach separating the two rivers, a short 3-kilometre discovery trail takes you to the belvedere high above the village.

2. The Civray-de-Touraine dam

What a beautiful valley the Cher is! And the needle dams that line it have a lot to do with it. Regulating the level of the river, they blend harmoniously into the landscape every 3 to 5 kilometres. Take a seat on the terrace of the Bistrot’quai, enjoy the view, and let time fly!

Le Bistrot’Quai: Gourmet relaxation along the Cher

Hungry for a moment out of time, between nature and local flavours? The Bistrot’Quai welcomes you to a unique setting, set in the garden of the lock keeper’s house in Civray-de-Touraine. There’s no sophisticated cuisine here, just quality local produce: artisanal terrines, regional wines, beers and soft drinks. Take a seat on a terrace overlooking the Cher, under a majestic willow tree or in an unusual corner of the garden, and let yourself be carried away by the soothing atmosphere of the place.

New: embark on a novel experience! Pick up your aperitif hamper filled with wine and terrines, climb aboard a Canadian canoe and set off down the Cher towards the Château de Chenonceau. A magical moment to share with your partner or your friends!
