The fortress, with its majestic position overlooking the town, built by Count Thibaut I of Blois, invites the visitor into the heart of France’s and England’s history. The court of Henry II Plantagenet and Eleanor of Aquitaine was established here in the 12th century.

Surrounded by the Vienne River and numerous vineyards, this important site in French history (Joan of Arc met Charles VII here in 1429 before liberating Orléans) offers several types of tours: guided, self-guided with a Histopad tablet (augmented reality tour), self-guided with a booklet, tours for children, and more.
