Between drawbridges and majestic towers
Overlooking the town, the austere facade of Louis XI’s castle reveals its defensive character with its towersand its sentry walk over machicolations. The drawn bridge, one of the last still in operation in France, is lowered every morning to welcome visitors in an authentic medieval atmosphere.
Once through the courtyard, the surprise is complete: large windows open generously onto the gardens, already heralding the refinements of the Renaissance. The fifteen richly furnished rooms house an exceptional collection of 15th-century tapestries and furniture, precious witnesses to the day-to-day life of the great lords.
