The floral bouquets of Chenonceau floral art at the service of heritage

Welcome to the enchanting worldof Chenonceau floral arrangements, where
each bouquet tells a story and sublimates the soul of the château. In this unique place in
France, flowers dance with Renaissance architecture, creating a symphony of
colours and fragrances renewed every week.

The floral workshop : a unique location in France

In the heart of a 16th-century farmhouse, the floral workshop at Chenonceau continues a tradition started 25 years ago by Laure Menier. Under the direction of Jean-François Boucher, Meilleur Ouvrier de France, a passionate team renews each week nearly 150 compositions for the 19 rooms of the castle.

At 6:30 am, the florists are busy magnifying the spaces before the arrival of the first visitors. Most of the flowers come from the flower garden, a hectare in which more than 300 varieties flourish. The creations are adapted to the colours of the rooms: pale pinks in the Cabinet Vert, warm tones for the Salle des Gardes, delicate shades in the chambre des Cinq Reines.

Who is the master of flowers at Chenonceau?

A native of Saint-Avertin, Jean-François Boucher has been orchestrating the château’s signature “touch of femininity” since 2015. Meilleur Ouvrier de France, this floral magician transforms new arrangements into veritable objects of art every week. In her studio, the daily chores begin at dawn: meticulous inspection of the bouquets, harvesting the flowers from the vegetable garden, creating arrangements according to the function of the room. Her creations tell the story of the historical events at the château, sometimes slipping insubtle winks to Catherine de Médicis or Diane de Poitiers.

Naturally, particular attention is paid to the arrangements that accompany the events organised, starting with Christmas in the land of castles. In short, this is a lovely reason to push open the door of one of our famous châteaux de la Loire.

The art of enhancing every room in the château

Enter the Salle des Gardes where a majestic bouquet of peonies converses with the Flanders tapestries. In the bedroom of the Five Queens, arrangements in shades of pale roses meet the wall hangings.

The expertise of the family business is expressed right down to the state of freshness of the flowers, meticulously checked twice a day. Each arrangement tells a different story: here a nod to Renaissance feasts, there an evocation of Diana’s gardens.
