Decidedly, the city of Amboiseis full of lovely surprises. 3 magnificent châteaux (Château royal d’Amboise, Château du Clos Lucé, Château Gaillard), a fine aquarium, the confectionery conservatory, La Loire by bike, the GR3, canoes on the shore… yes, resolutely, the tourist offering is plethoric, especially as we should add the famous Caves Ambacia.
It was in 1874 that, alongside their cooperage business, the Duhard family began trading in wine, then concomitantly started their collection of old vintages, which has become a highly prized tourist asset at the start of the 21st century.
In 2021, a new page in history was turned, with a change of name (the “Caves Duhard” giving way to the “Caves Ambacia”) and the creation of the bistrot l’Oppidum, which completes the scenic tour inside the cellars. There’s no doubt you’re looking at a high-quality wine tourism offering here!
