To open the European Heritage Days weekend, the town of Richelieu will have the honor of welcoming the prestigious Troupes de Marine Band, which takes part in the July 14th parade in Paris every year.
This exceptional musical event pays tribute to the shared history between Richelieu and the origins of the Troupes de Marines. Indeed, they trace their roots back to the Compagnies ordinaires de la mer and the Régiment Royal des Vaisseaux, created in 1622 and 1638 by Cardinal de Richelieu, the city's founder.
With an ensemble of 50 musicians, the Musique des Troupes de Marine will perform a repertoire combining military tradition, classical music and contemporary pieces.
Funds raised will go to the "Richelieu, 400 ans 400 mécènes" operation.
