Guillaume Faugues remains an enigmatic figure in medieval music. We only know that he was chaplain at the Sainte-Chapelle in Bourges in 1462-1463. This four-part polyphonic mass is one of five he composed, and a perfect example of the "messe-parodie" technique: it is based on Guillaume Dufay's famous song Le serviteur hault guerdonné.
