All Saints' Day holidays with children

Take a breather after the back-to-school season and make the most of this first interlude in the heart of autumn to get your mind off things! The temperatures are still fairly mild and year after year, the programme gets more and more packed.

Three ideas for outings with the whole family during the All Saints' holidays

Take advantage of the many events at the Château du Rivau to discover this remarkable site. There’s a treasure hunt (3-5 years), pumpkin carving (6-12 years), garden escape (teenagers) and Halloween activities. Practical: have lunch on site in one of the 2 restaurants!

Get some fresh air in the state-owned forests of Loches and Chinon as you set off in search of mushrooms! Chanterelles, coulemelles, trompettes de la mort, cèpes or pieds de mouton are the edible mushrooms most often encountered. Don’t know the first thing about them? Don’t worry: the kids will be more than happy to dig them out so they can be photographed!

At Amboise, succumb to a thousand sweet pleasures by pushing open the door of the Conservatoire de la confiserie! There’s a tour to discover the production stages: watch the day’s production using period equipment.

Dates for the All Saints’ holiday 2025

For all academic zones, the dates for the All Saints’ holiday are the same: from Saturday 18 October to Sunday 2 November 2025.

Autumn visits and activities Castles, walks, leisure sites...

Fauna and flora”, “bread oven” or “coat of arms” workshops, storytelling and afternoon tea, the Little Musketeers’ school: just north of the Bourgueil vineyards, Gizeux château is the place to be for the activities on offer during the All Saints’ Day holidays. The Musée de la Préhistoire du Grand-Pressigny is another popular destination for children, who can learn how to make fire, prehistoric jewellery, Neolithic pottery or even a musical instrument. Generally speaking, in Touraine, you’ll always find a castle or site to visit!

And whether it’s spring, summer or All Saints’ Day, opt for family-friendly good values: local and tropical fish at the Aquarium de Touraine are matched by game from large farms (deer, roe deer, wild boar, but also ostriches, bison and other wallabies) at the Beaumarchais animal reserve, which you can cross by safari-train! And while we’re on the subject of animals, don’t hesitate to visit the Vazereau and Ani’maurice educational farms.

A little sport? Incorporate tree climbing, cycling, hiking, horse riding and even a swimming session at the aquatic centres into your programme!
