The egg hunt is coming soon for Easter!

Who knows why? Every year, the bells drop chocolate Easter eggs in the grounds of some of Touraine’s châteaux, as well as at other visitor attractions. The children are delighted, and so are their parents, especially as the Easter egg hunts are complemented by other activities on the weekend of 4 to 6 April 2026.

Easter egg hunts in Touraine

Easter egg hunts, but also bunny hunts, fish hunts and hen hunts: with your children or grandchildren, have fun unearthing a whole bestiary… made of chocolate. A must-see weekend in spring, just before the April school holidays!

THE WEEKEND’S EVENTS
Don’t miss out on any of the major events on the programme by taking a look at the weekend’s events in Touraine!

Details of planned events for the Easter weekend

Stroll through the enchanted gardens of Château du Rivau! All weekend long, little ones (3 to 5 years old / at 10.30 am and 5 pm) will hunt for eggs with their parents. The 6-10 year olds (11.30am, 2.30pm and 4pm) will be on the trail of the dragon eggs, without their parents but with a mediator from the château! Booking essential

Near Descartes, discover the Ani’Maurice educational farm: during these 3 days, egg hunts take place at 11am, 2pm and 4pm, also by reservation. In addition, pony rides, pedal tractors, treasure hunts and a yoghurt bar will keep the kids happy!

Make the most of one of Touraine’s major springtime events: the plant festival at the Château de la Bourdaisière, with a host of exhibitors, talks, the sale of tomato plants from the château, and… 2 egg hunts, with registration required: for children aged 3 to 5 at 10.30am, and for families at 11.15am.

Take part in the treasure hunt organised by the Château d’Azay-le-Rideau. Children have to find “beacon eggs”, then solve the riddles… with a few chocolates on offer at the end of the game! Activities throughout the Easter weekend, without reservation and at no extra charge.

… the rest of the programme :

From Sunday 5 and Monday 6 April 2026, the Cité Rétro-Mécanique Maurice Dufresne is organising a bingo-dingo version of the hunt! Each child, aged 3 to 14, will be given a picture on arrival, and will have to put the pair together to win the chocolate. There’s also a special Easter lunch menu at Chez Jeannot.

And since we’re in Touraine, you can also head to the vineyards of Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil for an egg hunt in the middle of the vines, at the Domaine de La Chopinière du Roy (also on Sunday and Monday).

Last option on Monday(booking required): find the poem eggs at the Prieuré Saint Cosme and turn them into real chocolate Easter eggs!

The châteaux of Gizeux, Ussé, Château-Gaillard and Langeais, as well as the Bulle d’O swimming pool, also usually organise egg hunts. We’ll be adding to the range of activities on offer as soon as their programmes become available.
