What’s on this weekend? After the festive season, the calendar of events is naturally a little less full in January. But there are a few good initiatives to get you out and about: below is our selection of ideas for your next weekend in Touraine!

Weekend outings From Friday 16 to Sunday 18 January

On Saturday at the Place de la Mairie in Chinon, the truffle festival will be celebrating a product of choice that is booming in Touraine. On the programme: truffle-hunting demonstrations with dogs and pigs, visits to truffle fields, culinary events, sweet and savoury tastings, the presence of nurserymen…

In Tours, the Orchestre d’Harmonie de la Ville de Tours will be playing a Viennese concert on Saturday and Sunday from 4pm to 10pm at Tours Town Hall.

OTHER OUTINGS THIS WEEKEND

Friday: “Destination India” tasting evening at the Cave de Vouvray.
Saturday: Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil will be celebrating Saint-Vincent in style, with a lively meal at the stade des Dormants. And there’s a concert by Swing acoustic project at the Théâtre du Rossignolet in Loches.
On Sunday: the Bol d’Air in Saint-Avertin and the Run & Randonnée de la Saint-Vincent in Vouvray will delight sports enthusiasts, while bargain hunters can head to Chinon for its flea market, held every 3rd Sunday of the month.

Weekend outings From Saturday 24 to Sunday 25 January

The pretty Renaissance façade of theHôtel Goüin is a sight to behold. From 21 January to 15 February, the “Hors Limites” exhibition offers a great opportunity to spend a few hours in Tours, unveiling a selection of works from the Artothèque de Touraine.

Not far from there, note that comedian Nora Hamzawi ‘s tour includes a stop at the Palais des Congrès in Tours on Saturday evening.

OTHER OUTINGS THIS WEEKEND

On Saturday, a new truffle market in Marigny Marmande, and the fête de la Saint Vincent in Vouvray, with a meal in the Bonne Dame cellars.
On Sunday afternoon, a walk for kings at La Ferrière (12 or 18 km).
All weekend: 42nd Ballan-Miré painting and sculpture show, the Intime Festival in Saint-Avertin, and theatre with “L’art de la chute”, atBourgueil Abbey.

Weekend outings From Friday 30 January to Sunday 1 February

A new exhibition opens this weekend at the Musée des Beaux-Arts inTours:“Au temps de Camille Claudel, être sculptrice à Paris“. It highlights some twenty major female artists of the same generation as Camille Claudel (around 1900) through 90 works.

Also in the capital of Tours, a Candlelight evening in tribute to Queen will be held on Saturday evening at the Palais des Congrès.

OTHER EVENTS THIS WEEKEND

Friday: concert at the Cinq-Mars-la-Pile village hall with EXOBRASS – Au fil du jazz.
Saturday: Introduction to wine tasting at Chançay, with Myriam Fouasse-Robert.
Sunday: brunch at Château de Rochecotte(Les Coteaux-sur-Loire), “general” guided tour of Tours, or winter walk (10/12 km) in Cinq-Mars-la-Pile.
