Chédigny The village of roses
Come and admire the 1000 rose bushes, the 1500 bulbs, the hundred or so shrubs and over 3000 perennials and grasses that flourish in the streets of the village. They enhance the lives of residents and holidaymakers alike, much to the delight of the village’s former mayor. In 1998, Pierre Louault was at the origin of Chédigny’s plant identity, taking advantage of the burying of the networks to convert the pavements into planted areas, changing the flow of traffic and giving the streets back to the residents. Now you can breathe in the intoxicating scent of climbing roses, planted in collaboration with rose gardener André Eve, who specialises in the conservation and rediscovery of old roses. Nuage parfumé, Pénélope, Salet, Louise Odier, Ghislaine de Féligonde… Discover a fantastic collection of roses! Chédigny is listed in the European guide to rose gardens, published by the Société Nationale d’Horticulture de France.
Le festival des roses de Chédigny
At the end of May, take part in this big weekend featuring over 60 exhibitors, starting with rose growers and nurserymen. Another not-to-be-missed event in the village is the Bouche et de Blues festival at the end of July.
