On Friday 20th November, alongside the unveiling of the restored Revolutionary Flag of the Citizen Ladies of Amboise, the Théâtre Beaumarchais in Amboise will welcome art historian and actress Hortense Belhôte for a lecture-performance entitled “Family Portraits”.
“Starting from my own family history—with its discontinuities, deviations, adoptions, appropriations and other colonial ‘indigestions’—my attention turned to 1789 and the revolutionary period as a crucible of founding myths, with a simple question: what stories can we draw from it to enrich the bedtime stories we’ll tell our future children?”
Recommended for ages 15 and over.
Unveiling of the restored flag at the Amboise Museum of Art and History at 6.00 pm.
