A brand-new exhibition will mark the 2026 "Travel like kings" season at the Château royal d'Amboise. Visitors will be invited to follow in the footsteps of their Renaissance predecessors at the "Sur la route des princes voyageurs" exhibition.
Renaissance courts were certainly the most nomadic of French courts: on the roads of the kingdom or of war, the king set off at the head of a convoy of several thousand followers. And when he wasn?t taking to the road himself, the sovereign supported other expeditions setting out to conquer an unknown world (Canada, Brazil?).
Through the travels of the sovereigns who have marked the history of the Château d'Amboise, this exhibition tells us more about what led sovereigns to prefer the uncertain paths of fame and fortune to the comfort of their homes
