Le Voyage du Phoenix is a sensitive and critical exploration of the imaginary constructions associated with oasis landscapes, between colonial memory, the desire for exoticism and the contemporary reconfiguration of the gaze. Conceived and led by Moroccan artist Laila Hida, the project examines the mechanisms by which representations are made through photography, literature and film, by placing the narratives inherited from the 19th century in tension with today?s realities.
