A precious legacy of our past, these châteaux tell a thousand and one historical epics, immersing us in tales that are all the more gripping for having actually happened! So do pop in to one of the seven châteaux in Touraine taking part in ‘La Nuit des Châteaux’, organised by the French crowdfunding platform Dartagnans.

Join the immersive theatrical tour ‘White Night at Montpoupon’, set in the atmosphere of the 1920s. Mysterious phenomena will disrupt what promised to be a peaceful evening. Join us on 17 October, from 5.15 pm. Adult price: €15.
In Amboise, get ready for an‘Italian Night of the Orange Trees’! Discover this château by candlelight, accompanied by poetic recitals celebrating the orange. Self-guided or guided tours on 16, 17 and 18 October from 7.00 pm. Price: €18.
After a stroll through the beautifully illuminated grounds, explore the underground passages of this medieval fortress in small groups of 6 to 8 people, then make your way up to one of the towers. A wonderful adventure to enjoy – do bring your own torch – on 16 and 17 October from 6.00 pm. Adult price: €10. Drinks and snacks available to buy on site.
After a workshop on the aromas of medicinal beverages and a tasting of fouées and other specialities from the fortress, set off on a gourmet torchlit tour, led by a knight in full armour. Discover this thousand-year-old fortress on Saturday 17 October from 7.45 pm to 11 pm. Adult price: €32.
Marvel at this illuminated monument and take part in one of two evening tours following in the footsteps of the ghosts of Montrésor. Follow in the footsteps of Count Branicki’s mysterious medium – a figure closely linked to the castle’s history and legends – and embark on an extraordinary investigation through the castle’s rooms, plunged into darkness. Join us on 16 and 17 October from 6.00 pm. Adult price: €15.

From 6pm to 9pm, explore Langeais Castle whilst taking part in the treasure hunt ‘The Last Remedy’. Suitable for all ages, this puzzle-filled trail will lead you to the antidote that will free Louis XI from the influence of his henchman. Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October. Adult admission: €12.
