5 Loire Valley AOCs make up the Vignobles & Découvertes Chinon Bourgueil Azay destination:

Chinon (2,400 hectares / red, rosé and white wines)
Bourgueil (1,400 hectares / red and rosé wines)
Saint-nicolas-de-bourgueil (1,050 hectares / red and rosé wines)
Touraine azay-le-rideau (50 hectares / white and rosé wines)
Touraine noble-joué (30 hectares / rosé wines)

Between Tours and Angers, discover a wide range of flavours from some of France’s great appellations, as well as terroirs little known to the general public. As well as wines from the main appellation, most of the wineries also produce other cuvées, in particular fine bubbles from the Touraine and Crémant de Loire appellations.

A word of advice: if you’d like to do more than just a tasting, book in advance so that the winegrowers can welcome you in the best possible conditions.

The Vignobles et Découvertes label

“Vignobles & Découvertes” is a wine tourism label awarded by Atout France (the national tourism operator) to destinations that combine visits to wine estates with other tourist attractions and services: sightseeing sites, accommodation, restaurants, bike hire, boat hire, etc. The backbone of a Vignobles & Découvertes area is obviously the tourist cellars. In the Loire Valley, they are regularly audited to guarantee a high-quality welcome.
