Three good ideas for getting some fresh air around Lac de Rillé

Escape to the shores of Lac de Rillé, the largest reservoir in Touraine, close to neighbouring Anjou. Surrounded by trees, the 200-hectare lake is home to many birds, including grebes, ducks, plovers and wagtails, as well as the osprey and black stork, two species that are very rare in France.

1. Camping in the great outdoors with Huttopia Lac de Rillé

Put down your suitcase and make yourself comfortable in aHuttopia chalet or lodge tent. The shimmering waters of Lac de Rillé and the pine branches gently swaying in the breeze will immerse you in a serene, relaxing atmosphere from the moment you arrive, reinforced by the sight of holidaymakers lounging by the pool ! Whatever the case, the name “Huttopia” perfectly conveys the spirit of the place: calm, with soft sunlight filtered through the canopy. Not forgetting the forest spa, with sauna and Finnish bath. You may never want to leave!

Lake Rillé

Fed by the Lathan, this lake was created in 1977 to irrigate the surrounding farmland. It comprises the 180 hectares of Lac des Mousseaux plus the 20 hectares of the Pincemaille reservoir.)

2. Cycling & walking around Lake Rillé

Take a pleasant 6 km walk (or even less, if you don’t go all the way to the village) around the eastern part of Lac de Rillé: the Pincemaille reservoir. An interpretation trail, an ornithological observatory and an 18-metre-high observation tower will enhance your outing.

If you hire a bike from the campsite or bring your own, this time you can discover the western part of the lake on an attractive 17km loop, which also takes you through a pretty rural mosaic of woods and fields, interspersed with isolated villages and houses. Between two cereal-growing areas, horses and cows will be watching you with their hair blowing in the wind! The woods to the south of the lake provide another playground for a second 18km loop.

Just a few kilometres away, you can also discover the Lac d’Hommes, created from former falun quarries. As well as supervised swimming, there’s an aquatic course for children (who can swim) and adults alike. The same goes for the guinguette des farmers, a popular spot, the châteaux of Gizeux and Champchevrier, a cyclo rail, and the wine estates of Bourgueil and Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil.
