In summer, it’s show time! As soon as night falls, the monuments rustle with a joyful, polite effervescence. Here and there, people wait patiently for the first sounds and lights to announce the start of colourful evenings. Whether contemporary creations or historic frescoes, these events reveal a different face of the Loire châteaux, magnifying their architecture with subtle lighting effects.

Immerse yourself in a fairytale setting

As the daylight fades, the atmosphere slips into a gentle reverie that’s well worth indulging in. In the gardens of Villandry, for example, revel in the countless candles that make up the enchanting decor for the Nights of a Thousand Fires (31 July, 1 and 2 August 2026), punctuated by a fireworks display.

At the Château de Chenonceau, stroll under the stars through the illuminated avenues of the park, where the graceful notes of great Renaissance composers waft through the air. And don’t miss the tasting under the stars (mid-July), an experience where exceptional wines and enchanting surroundings come together to perfection.

Vibrate to the rhythm historical shows

Let history come alive before your eyes with theClos Lucé evenings. Attend the theatrical nocturnes (mid-July) and the nocturnal strolls (mid-August), where actors and musicians plunge you into the fascinating world of Leonardo da Vinci.

Over 300,000 spectators have succumbed to the magic of the Scénoféerie de Semblançay. This grandiose show, put on by hundreds of volunteers, brings the history of Touraine to life through a spectacular staging. Don’t miss out on this must-see summer event!

On the banks of the Loire, the Royal Château of Amboise unveils its night-time show ” Amboise, Destinies Royales “, performed every Wednesday and Saturday. Immerse yourself in the prestigious past of the court of François I and follow the rhythm of a striking production.

Musical evenings at the Château de l’Islette

While the love affair between Auguste Rodin and Camille Claudel, which regularly takes place here, attracts a substantial number of visitors during the day, a large audience also converges on the Château de l’Islette in the evenings from the summer onwards.

And with good reason! The“L’Islette à la belle étoile” evenings on Wednesdays give way to jazz aperitif picnics on Thursdays , then the guinguette atmosphere of“L’Islette en fête” on Fridays, before the musical picnic evenings on Saturdays. All good reasons to spend at least one evening on the banks of the Indre every summer!

Take advantage of these exceptional evenings to discover the château and its grounds by the light of 1,000 candles, while sharing a picnic with family and friends by the water. From 2 July to 27 August 2026!

The nocturnes of Azay-le-Rideau

The immersive show“La conjuration d’Azay – Le bal des assassins” transports you to the year 1626, with Gaston de France coveting the throne of his brother Louis XIII, and opposing the growing authority of Cardinal de Richelieu. 200 volunteers will be working alongside professional actors all around the Château d’Azay-le-Rideau. Before or after the show, enjoy the glass light that adorns the facades, as you stroll through the park’s alleys by torchlight and lanterns. Dates 2026 to come
