Bohemian Cycling Between Touraine and Berry

The Cyclo Bohème route takes you through the heart of bucolic landscapes between Touraine, Berry and Creuse. Along the way, you’ll cross paths with George Sand, Honoré de Balzac, Auguste Rodin and Camille Claudel, Claude Monet and Jacques Tati… welcome to the V49 cycle route!

La Cyclo Bohème as an alternative route in Touraine

For a new cycling holiday in Touraine, another world is possible… or at least, another cycle route, dotted with numerous points of interest. Connected to La Loire à Vélo (at Chenonceaux and Azay-le-Rideau), the Cyclo Bohème offers an alternative route to cross Touraine from west to east, via the south. Do you follow?

Azay-le-Rideau, a listed tourist resort, lends itself to being the starting point for your expedition. On the first day, warm up with a round trip to the château de l’Islette, the Cité Rétro-mécanique Maurice Dufresne, the village of Bréhémont and the château d’Ussé. On the following days, follow the Cyclo Bohème signs to the musée Balzac, the Domaine de Candé, the fortress of Montbazon, then Cormery and its abbey and of course, Loches and its royal city!

The plus points of the Cyclo Bohème

A particularly quiet and bucolic route, with few crowds on the route or at the visitor sites. A real greening-up, epitomised by the garden village of Chédigny, for example!

La Cyclo Bohème From Touraine to Creuse!

Our neighbours in Berry have also set up a cycle tourism route along the banks of the Indre, north of the Brenne ponds, bringing the Cyclo Bohème route to 344 kilometres. Imangine yourself on a long journey, starting in Azay-le-Rideau and then making your way to Loches, Chatillon-sur-Indre, Buzançais, Châteauroux, La Châtre, Boussac, all the way to Chambon-sur-Voueize.

Thus pedal successively through the departments of Indre-et-Loire (37), Indre (36), Cher (18) and Creuse (23)!
