Picnic at Mont Sigou AOC bourgueil

Legend has it that Gargantua lost a boot before crossing the Loire to return to Chinon, giving rise to Mont Sigou. In these parts of Coteaux-sur-Loire, winegrower Philippe Boucard has transformed one of his barrels into a large “picnic barrel”, complete with an orientation table. Admire the superb view over the surrounding vineyards before sampling the organic wines from the Lamé-Delisle-Boucard estate. Nearby, the Vincent Cuisinier de Campagne restaurant offers ready-made picnic baskets during the summer!

Interpretation trail

Part of the “From green hillsides to white tufa” trail , an interpretation trail highlights both the troglodyte cellars on the hillsides and the vineyards. Well worth a visit!

Located on rue Balzac, just inside the château d’Azay-le-Rideau, Domaine Paget also welcomes you to Rivarennes. It’s the starting point for the outdoorEscape game “Le serment de la confrérie” (The Brotherhood’s Oath), which will take you on a tour of the country, starting with the vineyards!

Walking tour AOC chinon and vouvray

In Panzoult, set off on a 10-kilometre walk through theAOC Chinon vineyards and the Juche-Pie woods. On the way back, take the whole family on a visit to the spectacular Sibylle cellar, with its beautiful scenographic trail.

A shorter, 6-kilometre route fromRochecorbon (Petite Cité de Caractère) takes you through plots planted with the Chenin Blanc grape variety, typical of theVouvray AOC.

In the centre of Bourgueil, hire a bike, with or without electric assistance, and set off for a half-day ride, following the signs for Loop 23.
