The Descartes Museum is hosting a discussion and debate with the Blossac Philosophy Circle on the topic of literature in gastronomic culture. “Scholarly Flavors”: Through these evocative words, we will explore how literature has illustrated, celebrated, and glorified gastronomy, dining rituals, and gourmet recipes. There are few great writers who have not described our eating habits and rituals in their works. Rabelais, Proust, Balzac, Blixen, and many others will make up our menu—or, to put it another way: the art of the written word in the service of gastronomic culture.
